描述
■ Product Introduction
TPO waterproofing membrane (Thermoplastic Polyolefin waterproofing membrane) is a new type of membrane made from TPO synthetic resin – produced by advanced polymerization technology combining EPDM rubber and polypropylene – together with antioxidants, anti‑aging agents and softeners. It can be reinforced with polyester fabric as an internal reinforcement to make a reinforced membrane. It belongs to the synthetic polymer waterproofing membrane category.
In practical applications, this product offers comprehensive advantages: aging resistance, high tensile strength, high elongation, applicability on wet roofs, no need for a protective layer when exposed, easy installation and no pollution. It is very suitable as a waterproofing layer for lightweight energy‑saving roofs, large industrial plants and environmental protection buildings.
■ Performance Characteristics
TPO waterproofing membrane combines the performance advantages of EPDM and PVC – the weather resistance and low‑temperature flexibility of the former with the weldability of the latter. Unlike traditional plastics, it exhibits rubber‑like high elasticity at room temperature, yet can be shaped like plastic at high temperatures. Therefore, it has good processability, mechanical properties and high‑strength weldability. Adding a layer of polyester fabric between two TPO layers enhances physical properties, tear strength, fatigue resistance and puncture resistance.
In practice, it offers aging resistance, high tensile strength, high elongation, can be applied on wet roofs, requires no protective layer when exposed, is easy to install and non‑polluting – ideal as a waterproofing layer for lightweight energy‑saving roofs.
■ Applicable Standard
TPO waterproofing membrane complies with GB 27789‑2011. All production and manufacturing of TPO membranes must follow this standard, which was issued on December 30, 2011 and became effective on November 1, 2012.
■ Technical Specifications
Classification
Based on composition, the membranes are divided into:
-
Homogeneous membrane (code H)
-
Membrane with fiber back support (code L)
-
Fabric‑reinforced membrane (code P)
-
Homogeneous TPO waterproofing membrane: TPO membrane without internal reinforcement or backing material.
-
TPO waterproofing membrane with fiber back support: TPO membrane with fabric (e.g. polyester non‑woven) bonded to the underside.
-
Fabric‑reinforced TPO waterproofing membrane: TPO membrane internally reinforced with polyester or fiberglass mesh.
■ Main Applications
This product is suitable for exposed or non‑exposed roof waterproofing layers, as well as underground waterproofing of buildings susceptible to deformation. It is particularly suitable for light gauge steel roof structures – when combined with a proper layered design and quality installation, it reduces roof weight, provides energy savings, and achieves waterproofing and condensation prevention. It is an ideal roofing waterproofing material for large industrial plants and public buildings.
It can also be used in drinking water reservoirs, bathrooms, basements, tunnels, grain storage facilities, subways, reservoirs and other waterproofing and moisture‑proofing projects.
